Uebergame version 0.01 released.

Finally I got a first test version of my own game running. Get it at the games section.

It was 2 years ago from this moment I first started looking into gamedesign and the Torque3D engine and finally I got something running after several failed attempts and some breaks.

This game was the original reason I started this site for the textures and such, since I needed them for my game and it turned out to be more work than I thought and this made me decide to share my work in the hope I can save others this time, since the time and resources of hobbyist and indie game developers are limited. Yes there may be a lot of other pseudo-free resources out there, but I could not find enough that was really free, so that I can release it as open source for others to use, remix and redistribute.

Yes, there is not much yet, just one level and two weapons and some player skins, but at least it works. So I can build upon it and I will try to add some new features for the next version, I just don't have the time to do everything at the same time. And if you have some experiences in programming or as artist you can also try add something yourself and we can see then if it is worth to be added to the main game.

Links Section Opened

The Link Section will contain useful or interesting links of all kinds that are collected over time.

At the moment I have made a small collection of the tools I use for game and art development. The collection is not random, I try to sort out the good stuff and post it.

So for example, if you want to get started in the game development discipline, my links may be helpful, since they provide a complete field-tested development environment of tools. I prefer free software, that is the reason a lot of things do not appear in my collection, I try to make not too many exceptions in my philosophy with this, so either free open source, free or at least low cost.

Uebergame reloaded.

Started working again on my game project "Uebergame", which was my original intention, the textures category is just a side project, that has become bigger than expected.

I did a complete redesign of my concept and so far there is one demo level done, in the next time I will work on some game mechanics and then I hope to get an alpha release out soon. Also I created a page on moddb for the game and a developer group. Originally it was planned as a group project, but I had bad experiences with working in groups, especially with my goals, so I kept working on it myself. I say this just as a note, that if you want to get involved, there is still a possibility for that.
