Blender - Video Editor

I already listed blender as 3D-modeling software, but as many may not know it is also an excellent video editor.
Blender can do simple cutting and composing of video files as well as encoding them to all possible formats and blender can also do special effects, if you know how to use it.
Blender overall is very complex so you have to watch some tutorials on each topic, don't be frustrated early, since you will likely not find good free alternatives that offer the same functionality.
